Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty in London
Rediscover Brighter, More Youthful Eyes
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a refined surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin, and occasionally small amounts of fat, from the upper eyelids.
Performed by Dr Apul Parikh, an EBOPRAS-certified surgeon with over 20 years of experience, the treatment offers a natural, long-lasting solution for tired, heavy, or hooded upper eyelids.

As we age, the delicate skin of the upper eyelids loses collagen and elastin, leading to drooping or hooding that can make the eyes appear tired, heavy, or older than a person truly feels. In some cases, the excess skin can even interfere with vision or make tasks like applying makeup more difficult.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty addresses these concerns by carefully removing excess skin and, where necessary, repositioning small pockets of fat to restore a more open, naturally rejuvenated appearance. The procedure is carried out in our London Victoria clinic under local anaesthetic, with the incision hidden within the natural eyelid crease so that any resulting scar is discreet once healed. Treatment typically takes between 1.5 and 2 hours, after which patients can return home shortly afterwards.
Results develop gradually over several weeks as swelling settles and the eyelids soften. To explore whether the procedure is right for you, we invite you to book a personal consultation with Dr Apul Parikh.

The Surgical Process Explained
A Meticulous, and Detail-Oriented Approach
Precision is at the heart of every surgical procedure performed by Dr Apul Parikh. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is carried out in a carefully considered sequence of steps, each one designed to deliver refined, natural-looking results while prioritising your comfort and safety throughout.
Careful Marking of the Natural Eyelid Crease
Before any anaesthetic is administered, Dr Apul carefully marks the natural crease of your upper eyelid. This ensures that the incision line follows your unique anatomy and sits within the fold where it will be virtually invisible once fully healed.
Gentle Administration of Local Anaesthetic
Precise Removal of Excess Skin
Removal or Repositioning of Small Fat Pockets
Meticulous Closure with Fine Sutures
A Tailored Procedure for Concerns Affecting the Upper Eye Area
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a highly targeted surgical treatment that focuses exclusively on rejuvenating the upper eyelids. While the procedure itself is specific, the range of concerns it can address is broad, making it a versatile option for patients seeking a more refreshed upper eye area.
Common concerns treated with upper eyelid blepharoplasty include excess or sagging skin that rests on the lashes or creates a hooded appearance, loss of definition in the natural eyelid crease, a heavy or tired look even after a full night’s sleep, fine lines and crepey texture on the upper lid, small pockets of fat that contribute to a puffy appearance, and in some cases, excess skin that begins to obstruct peripheral vision or make applying makeup difficult.
Each patient’s eye area is thoroughly assessed during consultation, where Dr Apul will determine whether surgery is the most appropriate option and, if so, create a personalised treatment plan designed around your individual anatomy and goals.

I was looking for a session that worked around my tight schedule, having travelled from abroad—but mainly also one that would allow me to treat live patients under supervision. From the moment I contacted Dr. Parikh, he was warm, transparent, and incredibly accommodating. As a fellow professional, this level of openness and clarity was a breath of fresh air, and it didn’t take me long to confirm the training date.
On the day itself, Dr. Parikh was equally welcoming in person—approachable, humble, and genuinely funny. His patients love him and that is testament to his professionalism and genuine passion for patient care - something I too am passionate about. He created a safe, non-judgmental space for me as a trainee where I felt completely comfortable asking even the “silly” questions. I was able to treat patients right away under his close guidance, and as a visual, hands-on learner, this style of training really resonated with me. I’ve attended many training courses over the years—most of them group-based—and while some have been excellent no doubt, others were too large to allow for meaningful, practical experience. With Dr. Parikh’s 1:1 approach, I had the opportunity to fully engage, ask questions, and gain practical skills I feel confident incorporating into my own clinical practice. Dr. Parikh's support doesn’t end when the training day does. He offers genuine 1:1 ongoing mentorship and I truly feel for me,this marks the beginning of a valuable long-term professional relationship.Thank you, Dr. Parikh—I look forward to working together again in the near future.
I have been to visit the clinic over the last few years and Dr Parikh has continued to provide me with noticeable improvement in skin texture, firmness and dare I say confidence. I don't get to sing his praises enough as while I often get compliments on my appearance thankfully no one ever asks what I've had "done" (so shhh!!) I am also grateful to have been talked out of things that perhaps weren't strictly necessary and I'm only sharing this now I heard gate keeping can age you 😂
If you’re considering this treatment or even just "something" he's definitely worth a visit.
Training alongside the amazing Dr. Apul is an experience like none other. His attention to detail, thoughtful process and passion for teaching is second to none. There’s no one else like him. Thank you for sharing your talent!!🙏🏻☺️

Blepharoplasty FAQs
here to answer your questions
An important part of our service is ensuring that you are as informed as possible on the treatments you’re receiving.
Although we will try to answer any Blepharoplasty FAQ’s we receive at our clinic in London Victoria, if your questions are not answered here, please get in touch.
Our cosmetic and medical specialists are on hand to help with any concerns or questions you may have regarding your treatment.
Am I a suitable candidate for upper eyelid blepharoplasty?
Ideal candidates are generally in good overall health, non-smokers or willing to stop smoking before and after surgery, and have realistic expectations about what the procedure can achieve.
A full consultation is required before treatment so that Dr Apul can assess your suitability, discuss your concerns, and create a personalised plan.
Will the procedure be painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, meaning the upper eyelid area will be completely numb throughout. You will be awake but comfortable and pain-free during the surgery.
Any post-operative discomfort is typically mild and easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
How visible will the scars be?
The incision is carefully hidden within the natural crease of your upper eyelid. Once fully healed, the scar is usually very discreet and difficult to see, even at close range.
How long until I can return to work?
Most patients return to their normal daily activities within 7 to 10 days. Bruising around the eyes typically lasts between 5 and 10 days, while mild swelling can persist for several days. Many patients choose to plan a quiet week following their procedure.
When can I wear makeup after a Blepharoplasty??
We generally advise waiting until the sutures have been removed and the incision has healed sufficiently before applying any makeup to the eye area. Dr Apul will provide personalised aftercare guidance during your recovery.
When can I exercise after the procedure?
Light walking can typically be resumed within a few days, but strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and anything that raises blood pressure to the face should be avoided for several weeks to support proper healing.
Will I look different after the procedure?
The aim is always to enhance your natural appearance, not to change the character of your face. Most patients report looking refreshed, more alert, and well-rested, with friends and family often noticing that they look healthier without being able to pinpoint exactly why.
How long do the results last?
Results typically last many years and are considered long-lasting, though the natural ageing process continues over time. Protecting your skin with daily SPF and maintaining a good skincare routine can help preserve your results for longer.
When are the stitches removed?
Sutures are typically removed at around one week following the procedure, at which point the initial healing is well underway and any tightness begins to ease.
Can upper eyelid blepharoplasty be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Many patients choose to complement their surgical results with non-surgical treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, skin boosters, or dermal fillers to further refine the refreshed appearance. Dr Apul can advise on the most suitable combination during your consultation.
Are there any risks involved?
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks involved, including infection, asymmetry, dry eyes, or temporary changes in sensation. Choosing an experienced, board-certified surgeon such as Dr Apul significantly reduces these risks, and all potential complications will be discussed openly and honestly during your consultation.
